For $32 a night, all you get in this public campground is a pit toilet. No campsite water or sewer hookups, showers, laundry or other amenities that you can get for the same or less at a private campground. But that's by design. According to the conservative orthodoxy, public campgrounds simply shouldn't compete with private campgrounds based on price. And with fewer amenities, public campgrounds have less funding to invest in their own infrastructure, making them even less competitive. It's a neoliberal strategy to get the state out of the business of denying a capitalist their God-given right to make money, damn the public interest.
