The US Postal Service is enumerated in the Constitution, and as such it has developed into one of the logistical miracles of the modern world. ANYONE can send a letter to ANYONE—ANYWHERE in the US—for about 50 cents! The USPS has been an essential public utility since our founding. But because it is a public service, i.e., owned and controlled by the people of the United States, it is very existence is anathema to neoliberalism. All that POTENTIAL PROFIT left on the table! It's been a target for privatization for decades. That can't be allowed to happen.
