I drafted this opinion after I got nowhere with Proofmode, hoping to jumpstart a discussion about the problem I see. I originally submitted it to The Guardian (US version, no response) and to Ars Technica (so far, no response. I tried PetaPixel, and they are interested. This is what I submitted to them 3/8/2024.
