where,

We will develop a portlet that finds the three notes taken nearest you. For example:

Housing for oilfield workers in the Bakken was in short supply and very expensive while oil prices exploded. Man camps popped up everywhere overnight as wages were high for most workers. When market prices cratered (due to overproduction in a glutted market) lots of operations were no longer profitable. Mass layoffs ensued, and many of those man camps are still there, but empty.

The Colstrip Power Plant, which is generating the plumes of pollution on the horizon, has an unhealthy influence on politics in Montana. The plant burns coal, and because it is has been unprofitable since the fracking boom, it will be completely closed down in the next few years. But Green New Dealers are getting the blame, both from Republicans and Democrats who are dependent on campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry.

phictions generated by ai

It is fitting that an entertainer was the first neoliberal president. Reagan was really only interested in cutting taxes and regulations on capitalists, and managed to split off enough corporate Democrats to enact his agenda. "Supply-side economics" promised broad prosperity that, of course, never materialized. Public debt mushroomed and public confidence in government cratered.

we've all been between a rock and a hard place before...

While in graduate school, I worked for a year on the graveyard shift as a line cook at Rudford's, a classic 24-hour hash house. This was a union shop (the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees, HERE, now UNITE HERE). The workers, organized by their union, could have done much more to establish better working conditions.
