I posted this image on my Facebook page post about AI "photography." Here is the rest of the backstory (click on the related note above for the original backstory). The backstory update is that Greg Gianforte, Republican Governor of Montana, is more than the "spectre" referenced in the title.

Some call him a fascist.

He's a very rich businessman and became a politician after he sold his software business for ungodly amounts of money. He's donated much of the fortune (there was a lot left over to essentially self-fund his elections to Congress and Governor), most of it on charter schools being a big proponent of private Christian education. Politically, he’s a theocrat and has virtually no public comment about Trump. Like the rest of the Republican Party in Montana, he doesn’t know which way to turn and silence is expedient. Spiritually, he’s a creationist—man walks with dinosaurs kind of cult member, check out the Glendive Dinosaur and Fossil Museum photo on this site in Related Content above—and is perhaps most famous for physically attacking a reporter during his campaign for Congress.

In our legislative session, about to adjourn, the Governor signs all of the bills the supermajortyRepbulican legislature sends him. Except one. SB99 was already extreme, addressing the definition of sex in state law. But according to Gianforte, it wasn't thorough enough to essentially legislate what is in the very definition of male and female, humans. It was defined as two, no ifs, ands, or buts.

This is what Zooey Zephyr was calling out. Of course, the supermajority prevailed, the Governor called out the State Patrol (they are his direct charge), and the Governor signed the bill tonight.

The latest wrinkle is that the Governor's own son, David Gianforte, who is publicly nonbinary, lobbied his dad against the bill. Read the Montana Free Press scoop at https://montanafreepress.org/[…]/. Obviously, David was not successful.
