Montana once had a Democratic Party that lived up to its current branding as the “Party of the People.” It grew out of the coalition of organized workers and farmers who fought together against the influence of out-of-state corporations who exported the profits made from Montana’s labor to corporations based on both coasts. Those organizations are now decimated by neoliberal politicians from both coasts. Thus the party has not controlled both houses of the state’s legislature for decades. (It's hard to read but the sign on the front of the building reads, "MT Democratic Headquarters".)
