front page news

These pages were published for the Capital Crime$ exhibition at BC Space in Laguna Beach, CA which ran from October 6, 2012 through February 24, 2014.

Each image is a mashup of a recent newspaper front page (appropriately blurred, but not so much to blur the context, image provided by Newseum), replacing the lead photograph and caption with one of my own high-resolution photographs taken since the advent of the financial crisis.

They are a commentary on what has not changed in this crisis, as well as on the newspaper industry itself and how it does not report the damage caused by the corrupting influence of money.

I call them Op-Photos. Like an Op-Ed, the images have a definite point of view that does not pretend to be photojournalism or documentary photography.
